Spring contact for contacting contact tongues in a plug and socket plug

The spring contact pin (1) has a hollow tubular housing (2). A contact needle (7) is provided centrally in the housing. This is provided with a push button and is acted on by a compression spring (16). The needle extends, at its free end, out of the housing when in use. A piston (10) of insulating material is provided in the front part of the housing nearest the push button. The needle passes through the piston so that the piston is guided on the needle. The piston extends out beyond the housing and is acted on by another compression spring (8) on the contact needle.
