PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid machine with a variable guide vane capable of operating the fluid machine in a wide flow rate range by avoiding an unstable phenomenon caused when operating the fluid machine in a flow rate area not more than a design point flow rate. SOLUTION: This fluid machine is provided with a diffuser vane 3a, and is provided with a detecting device 6 for detecting a suction quantity of the fluid machine, a driving mechanism for controlling an angle of the diffuser vane 3a, and a control device 7 for storing that the relationship of an optimal angle of the diffuser vane 3a predetermined to a suction flow rare of a low flow rate area is put in the almost linear relationship up to reaching a closing area. The control device 7 determines and controls a diffuser vane angle to the optimal angle from the suction flow rate when the suction flow rate detected by the detecting device 6 exists in the low flow rate area.
