PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely seal a cover for blocking a discharge muffling chamber of a second rotary compression element with a simple constitution in an internal intermediate pressure type multistage compression system rotary compressor. SOLUTION: This rotary compressor discharges gas compressed by a first rotary compression element in a sealed vessel, and compresses the discharged intermediate pressure gas by the second rotary compression element, and is provided with a cylinder of the second rotary compression element, an upper support member 54 blocking the opening surface of the cylinder, and having a bearing 54A of a rotary shaft rising in a central part, the discharge muffling chamber 62 formed in the bearing outside upper support member, and communicating with the cylinder inside, and the upper cover 66 having a peripheral part fastened to the upper support member by a bolt, and blocking the opening part of the discharge muffling chamber. A gasket 124 is sandwiched between the upper cover and the upper support member, and an O ring 126 is arranged between the inner peripheral end surface of the upper cover and a bearing receiving outside surface.
