PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a top wall of an exhaust port 19 to be hardly exposed from a cooling water, and to ensure the cooling thereof even when an air pocket is formed on a lower surface 27a of the top wall, by forming the lower surface 27a of the top wall of a head exhaust side water passage 27 to be higher than a lower surface 26a of the top wall of a head suction side water passage 26, inclining an engine in the right-and-left direction, that is, the width direction of a cylinder head 18, and allowing the head exhaust side water passage 27 to be higher. SOLUTION: In a water cooling device of the vertical multi-cylinder engine in which the head suction side water passage 26 and the head exhaust side water passage 27 are formed on an intake air distributing means 22 side of the cylinder head 18 and on an exhaust air merging means 23 side, respectively, along the longitudinal direction of the cylinder head 18, and the head suction side water passage 26 and the head exhaust side water passage 27 are communicated with each other via a water passage 21 across ports, the lower side 27a of the top wall of the head exhaust side water passage 27 is made higher than the lower side 26a of the top wall of the head suction side water passage 26.
