PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install a stiffening member such as a diaphragm, a stiffener or the like without using welding junction, and to minimize the increase of weight for reinforcement in a metallic member for a structure used for a column, beam or the like for the structure. SOLUTION: In a column material 1, in which the diaphragms 11 or the like are mounted at fixed places in the direction of the axis of a member and which has a closed section or an open section, partial bulging-out sections 10 projected from the internal surfaces of raw materials to be worked to the insides are formed mainly by heating the places where the diaphragms 11 composed of the raw materials to be worked are secured by a heater and compressing the raw materials to be worked in the direction of the axis of the member, the end sections of the diaphragms 11 are brought into contact or bitten with the bulging-out sections 10 by the bulging-out of the bulging-out sections 10 and the column material 1 in which the diaphragms 11 are connected integrally is obtained.
