METHOD FOR PRODUCING BROMOINDENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and industrially advantageous method for producing bromoindene that solves a problem of a conventional method. SOLUTION: The bromoindene shown by formula (1) is produced from indene by (A) synthesizing bromoindene shown by formula (2) by adding hydrogen bromide to a cycloolefin part of the indene in the presence of a free radical generator, (B) synthesizing dibromoindene shown by formula (3) by reacting an aromatic part of the bromoindane shown by formula (2) with bromine in the presence of an acid catalyst and (C) removing the hydrogen bromide added in the above step (A) from the dibromoindane shown by formula (3) in the presence of a basic compound.
