PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing dialkylpyridylborane by reacting a Grignard pyridine reagent with alkoxydialkylborane or trialkylborane. SOLUTION: The Grignard pyridine reagent is preferably prepared by reacting a Grignard reagent (RMgX) in situ with a halopyridine in a preferable solvent such as tetrahydrofuran, and then the alkoxydialkylborane or the trialkylborane is added to the Grignard pyridine reagent so as to form the dialkylpyridylborane, in a temperature range of approximately 0-40 deg.C.
