PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the yield of LED array head while minimizing an effect on the image quality, and to reduce the cost. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus where a latent image is formed by scanning a photosensitive drum 1 with an LED array head 33 comprising an LED element array subjected to lighting control depending on image data subjected to halftoning using a dither matrix and an image is formed by developing the latent image with toner, the quantity of light emitted from each light emitting diode element constituting the LED element array and transmitted a lens array is set such that the difference between the quantity of light averaged for the light emitting diode elements, corresponding in number to that of the pixels, arranged continuously in the main scanning direction of the dither matrix and the quantity of light averaged for all light emitting diode elements falls within a specified range.
