PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle preventing the deterioration of dehumidifying capacity resulting from the position of an air distribution door being arbitrarily set when an occupant makes a request for dehumidification. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for the vehicle is provided with two first and second air-conditioning systems, using a blower and an evaporator in common for these air-conditioning systems, and temperature regulating means capable of changing the temperature of air-conditioning air independently in the respective air-conditioning systems. Further, the air conditioner is capable of changing the air distribution quantity to each air-conditioning zone by an air distribution door provided upstream of the evaporator. When carrying out freeze protection of the evaporator on the basis of the detection result of a temperature detecting means provided at the evaporator or downstream thereof, in the case of determining the presence of the dehumidification request, the movable range of the air distribution door is regulated. The air distribution door may be fixed to a prescribed opening instead of regulating the movable range of the air distribution door.
