PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent useful as a therapeutic agent or a prophylactic agent for rheumatoid arthritis. SOLUTION: This therapeutic agent for the rheumatoid arthritis comprises a pyrimidine derivative or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt as an active ingredient. For example, 2-amino-4-[1-(3,4-methylenedioxybenzoyl)-4- piperidinyl]-6-(4-methoxyphenylmethyl)-pyrimidine represented by formula (1) is cited as one example of the pyrimidine derivative.
