PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cleansing composition in a gel form that shows high spreadability when applied, high affinity to oily stains on the skin and high cleansing effect and gives good sensory feeling when used and after cleansing, and has good storage stability and high safety. SOLUTION: This cleansing composition includes (a) an ester oil that is oily at room temperature or a hydrocarbon oil that is oily at room temperature, (b) a polyoxyethylene hardened caster oil type nonionic surfactant, (c) glycerol and (d) a polymer that includes the units based on a 2-(meth)acryloyloxy- ethylphosphoryl choline and the units based on a (meth)acrylic alkyl ester at a weight ratio of 100/0-10/90 in an amount of 60-100 wt.%. In this case, the content of (a) is 50-80 wt.%, (b) is 5-20 wt.%, (c) is 5-20 wt.% and (d) is 0.001-1 wt.%.
