PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material carrying device capable of holding a sheet material on a plate and easily moving the sheet material on the plate. SOLUTION: In an automatic exposure device 10 of a printing plate 12, the printing plate 12 is carried by bringing a contact part 70 into contact with the printing plate 12 on a plate feeding guide 20 by rotating a carrying roller 24. By arranging a carrying roller 24 at a rotation position opposite to the contact part 70 on the printing plate 12 on the plate feeding guide 20, moving of the printing plate 12 is hindered by frictional force between the printing plate 12 and the contact part 70. As a result, the printing plate 12 can be held on the plate feeding guide 20. By arranging the carrying roller 24 at a rotation position opposite to a non-contact part 68 on the printing plate 12 on the plate feeding guide 20, moving of the printing plate 12 is not hindered. As a result, moving of the printing plate 12 on the plate feeding guide 20 can be facilitated.
