Seal for liquid metal channels

Connection seal for use with pipe lines for liquid metal e.g. as used in atomic reactors comprises two rings made from a refractory fibre material between which is placed a high thermal conductivity metal torus shaped ring fitted with a cooling sleeve on the outside. Slots at right angles to the sealing rings are provided and filled with a thermal insulation materials to prevent heat travelling radially outwards. Suitable for use with corrosive liquid metals such as Zn or Al.
