PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer in a gas phase with reduced costs and simplified equipment, wherein (i) huge equipment to separate anα-olefin from internal olefins is disused that requires enormous amount of costs, (ii) use of an expensive high-purityα-olefin is not necessary, and (iii) the internal olefins contained in theα-olefin raw material can be used as a compound for removing heat of polymerization. SOLUTION: Ethylene and a 3-20Cα-olefin are copolymerized in a gas phase to form an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer, wherein the concentration of internal olefins in the gas phase of the polymerization is kept at a level >=0.1 mol%.
