PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein light emitted from a light source is efficiently utilized as the light contributing to the luminance of the display face. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device, an illuminator 170 has the light source 122, a light guide plate 121 and a light condensing means disposed between a lower substrate and the light guide plate and condensing and emitting light emitted from the light guide plate in nearly normal direction of the lower substrate and the light condensing means consists of an optical fiber plate 160 wherein a plurality of optical fibers 161 provided with light incident parts 162 disposed in nearly normal direction of the light guide plate 121 and light emission parts 163 disposed in nearly normal direction of the lower substrate 2 are arranged.
