<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil having a structure allowing direct connection with an ignition plug and preventing a large change of an installation space when mounting it on a cylinder head to provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine provided with the ignition coil. SOLUTION: A protective outer cylinder 31 of the ignition coil 9 is constituted so as to store a part on more rear end side than the rear end face 23b of a collar part 23 in a main fitting 19 among parts of the ignition plug 11 therein from a tip 31b. The ignition coil 9 is directly connected with the ignition plug 11. Moreover, since the protective outer cylinder 31 of the ignition coil 9 is constituted so as to have a function as a plug hole pipe, an outside diameter of the protective outer cylinder 31 can be expanded up to an outside diameter of a conventional plug hole pipe. As a result, a large installation space of a coil body part 37 can be ensured inside the protective outer cylinder 31, and it is unnecessary to largely change the installation space when mounting the ignition coil on the cylinder head.</p> |
