PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for distilling styrene or a styrene derivative. SOLUTION: 1,8,9-Trihydroxyanthracene is added as a polymerization inhibitor to the styrene derivative shown by general formula I (wherein, R is hydrogen, an alkyl, halogen, alkoxy, alkanoyloxy group or the like; n is an integer of 0 to 5; R may be the same or different when n is 2 or more; and X1 to X3 are the same or different and show each hydrogen, an alkyl group or the like), and said styrene derivative is distilled.
