PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety of a worker in charge of maintenance and inspection work. SOLUTION: This elevator system is furnished with a car 3 to move to elevate in an elevator shaft 1, a position detection means constituted of an encoder 8 to detect a position of the car 3 in the elevator shaft, a control device 9, etc., and an indicator 13 to indicate a stopping position of the car detected by this position detection means at the time when it is at a previously specified position for the inspection work, etc. Consequently, it is possible for the worker to certainly recognize that the car properly stops at the position where the worker rides in for maintenance and inspection and to avoid incongruity that the worker opens a landing door by mistake in a state where the car is at an improper position.
