The invention relates to a hybrid sol that comprises [SiOx(OH)y]n particles, with 0<y<4 and 0<x<2, that consist of a mixture from a first fraction of particles with a particle size of 4-15 nm and a second fraction of particles with an average particle size of 15-60 nm, water and a solvent. The hybrid sol is obtained by hydrolytic polycondensation of tetraalkoxysilanes in an aqueous medium that contains a solvent and adding a monodisperse silicium oxide hydroxide sol with an average particles size of 15-60 nm and a standard deviation of not more than 20 %. The invention also relates to the production and the use of said hybrid sol.
