<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nonreciprocal optical element such as an optical isolator using Faraday effect by actualizing a diluted magnetic mixed crystal semiconduc tor which has larger magnetooptic effect than a diluted magnetic mixed crystal semiconductor based upon MnAs, MnSb, etc. SOLUTION: Nonreciprocal optical elements which have core layers, guiding light, of diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMSs) of MnBi-material mixed crystal or MnBi itself and include DMS layers 2 are integrated on the same substrate.</p> |
