PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressing method eliminating the need for an extra interval L and the need to remove forms for forming a recess, while reducing the number of positions where reinforcements are disposed. SOLUTION: A concrete member 10 is provided with a jack recess 14 for disposing a multi-row fluid pressure jack 1 therein. A terminal threaded part 11A of a compression PC steel rod 11 passing through the jack recess has a compression nut 13 engaged on the pushing side thereof and has an anchoring nut 12 engaged on the opposite side. The fluid pressure jack is installed in such a way that the terminal threaded part is inserted in a groove 4. As a reaction force is produced at a pressure bearing plate 15 in the jack recess, the piston rods 3A to 3D of the fluid pressure jack are expanded and a pushing force is imparted to the PC steel rod from a compression nut receiving part 5 via the compression nut 13. The anchoring nut is turned and caused to abut the side of the jack recess opposite to the pushing side.
