Electrical switchgear (11) for a heating device (28) has a switch (13), an expansion measurement system (14,30,31,33,34) for triggering the switch and a display panel (42). The triggering mechanism has an expansion measurement socket for recording the temperature of the heating device. The switch has adjusting devices (33,34) forming a further expansion measurement system. Connections for measurement form a bridge circuit (18) with resistors in turn forming an adjustable resistor (17). The adjusting devices have electrical resistance heating (36) and a temperature measurement resistor (38), both of which are components of a measurement circuit. The display panel can be controlled via a measurement value picked up from the measurement circuit by means of a simple analog-digital converter (46).
