PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light transmittable plate for holding the liquid capable of easily performing the optical measurement of the liquid in a condition that a small amount of liquid is held on a surface. SOLUTION: This light transmittable plate 1 for holding liquid on the surface is provided with plural liquid holding grooves 3 on the surface of the light transmittable plate 2. The liquid can be quickly expanded by capillary phenomenon in the grooves 3 by dropping the liquid on the surface of the light transmittable plate 1 for holding the liquid. When the light transmittable plate 1 is vertically stood, it holds the liquid, so that the liquid dripping is hardly found.
