OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS RECORDING SYSTEM

A recording medium and its recording system capable of dissipating the heat of the recording layer while recording data with a laser beam, decreasing the reproduction jitter value under a predetermined value, and increasing the margin of the erasing power of the laser beam. A recording system 1 comprises an optical recording medium 10 and an optical recorder 30. The optical recording medium 10 has a heat dissipating layer 24 made of a material, such as aluminum, having a heat conductivity in a predetermined range. The optical recorder 30 is so constructed that a laser beam falls on a light-transmitting layer 26. The heat dissipating layer 24 of the optical recording medium 10 dissipates the heat of the laser beam to suppress increase of the temperature of the recording layer 20. The relationship between the recording power Pw of the laser beam and the erasing power Pe is 0.7<=Pe/Pw<=1.0.
