PURPOSE: To provide a conveyor capable of stably conveying a group of various articles in a predetermined attitude and quickly dealing with changes of articles, while also enabling fast processing. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of L-shaped separating members 21 to 21 are connected to one another via hinge mechanisms to constitute first and second article assembly retaining members 22 and 23 for conveying a group of articles X to X. A pair of forward and rear attaching mechanisms 24 and 24 are provided between each of the retaining members 22 and 23 and a first and a second conveyor belt 15 and 18 disposed parallel to the direction of conveyance. In that case, each of the attaching mechanisms 24 comprises a hook member formed of a plate spring located at the retaining members 22 and 23, and a receiving member located on the conveyor belts 15 and 18 for engaging the hook member. Further, a second photoelectric sensor 41 for detecting the number and the interval of separating surfaces of the separating members 21 to 21 passing besides it is positioned near the upstream side of the conveyor 1.
