PURPOSE: An image search system and a method of controlling the system are provided to search and display a specific motion picture that a user requires to improve motion picture search performance. CONSTITUTION: A word that describes the characteristic of a specific image of a motion picture is formed in a keyword recording file in the case that a keyword recording file formation function is set(S3). When a motion picture keyword function is set and a keyword is inputted, all of images of motion pictures corresponding to a keyword currently inputted and similar words are searched from the keyword recording file, and a list of specific images currently searched is displayed(S6). When a specific image is selected from the list, the image is reproduced according to a set display mode(S7).
