<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external surface expanding air bag device which securely expands an air bag to a desired position along a windshield from the back of a hood without being affected by the direction of an air flow and the wind pressure near a vehicle body upper surface of a vehicle on driving. SOLUTION: A hood 10 has a first hood part 12 for forming a main region of a front half side and a second hood part 14 as an expanding restriction member for forming a rear side of the hood 10. The second hood part 14 has an front end which is vertically and turnably connected to the rear end of the first hood part 12 via a hinge 16. When the air bag 4 expands, the second hood part 14 opens upward to a predetermined angle in a flap shape following the expansion of the air bag 4, and the expansion direction of the air bag 4 is restricted to the windshield 20 side overlapping the air bag 4 to be expand from the front half side of the vehicle.</p> |
