PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear drive unit which is compact in outside dimensions and lightweight, and further can easily carry out installation, assembly, overhaul and the like thereof. SOLUTION: The gear drive unit for converting a rotation input from a drive unit, such as a rotor of a wind power generation unit, to a required rotation output for rotatingly driving a driven unit, such as an electric generator, includes a large diameter gear 1 to be connected to the drive unit and a pair of output pinion shafts 13 to be connected to the driven unit. A first gear stage includes eight first stage pinion shafts 2 having teeth to mesh with the teeth on the outside periphery of the large diameter gear 1. These eight first stage pinions are concentrically fixed to the eight first stage pinion shafts, respectively. Four second stage pinions and four second stage pinion shafts 4 form a second gear stage for rotatingly driving the output pinions. |
