PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing in a high yield and at a lower cost an alicyclic epoxy compound having an oxetanyl group which is used in the fields of coating materials, adhesives, resists or the like. SOLUTION: Alicyclic olefins having an oxetanyl group are oxidized using hydroperoxide and a hydroperoxide compound as an oxidizing agent in the presence of a catalyst, thus epoxidizing a carbon - carbon double bond of the alicyclic olefins.
