PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic ester having excellent productivity. SOLUTION: The method for producing an aromatic ester comprises reaction of an alkyl-substituted aromatic compound, an aliphatic carboxylic acid and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst, using a mixture of (1) at least one aromatic compound selected from an aromatic alcohol and an aromatic aldehyde, (2) an alkyl-substituted aromatic compound (except aforementioned compounds in (1)), and (3) an aliphatic carboxylic acid as raw materials. The aforementioned mixture includes no more than 15 pts.wt. of the aromatic compound (1) based on 100 pts.wt. of the alkyl-substituted aromatic compound (2).
