A process prepares lumber as material for the construction of building walls. Prior to seasoning, a longitudinal groove is cut in the lower face of each log, directed at the heart of the material. The lumber is then seasoned in a drying chamber to reduce humidity to pref. 11 per cent. During the drying process, the slit widens to form a V-shaped seam. The seasoned lumber is then cut to the correct profile with the V-shaped seam at the bottom. The seam is subsequently routed to a chosen size and packed with a sealant prior to assembly.
