PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back liftable type side rail in a bed or the like having a structure directly attached to a bottom composed so as to lift and lower integral side rails, which can be rotated to a bottom lower face when unnecessary and held in a raised state, needing no labor of attachment and detachment, and superior in operability and safety. SOLUTION: In the bed or the like having an elevating mechanism in the bottom, a side rail frame is pivotably mounted to each bending bottom side part, the side rail frames are integrally composed by connecting them by bendable and retractable core materials, a lock mechanism is provided for holding the raised state, the side rails are raised concurrently with the rising bottom when the bottom is raised by the elevating mechanism, the core materials are arced in suitable curvatures, and falling from a bottom side face is prevented even in a bent state of the bottom. The most principal characteristic of the side rails is that they are composed so that they can be turned downward from a bottom side by releasing the lock mechanism.
