PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicolor small scale coating system having an easy and simple structure by which coating work is performed in the same manner as the handling of a regular coating material without accompanying the temporary stop of the system even in the case that a coating material used in low frequency is used. SOLUTION: A cartridge carrier 24 freely movable inside and outside a coating booth 14 is capable of being placed with an emergency packed cartridge 16b and the switch is carried out by drawing out the cartridge carrier 24 from the coating booth 14 while a regular packed cartridge 16a is used. As a result, the switch to the emergency packed cartridge 16b is performed without stopping the motion of a coating robot. The emergency packed cartridge 16b is also exchanged in the same manner as the handling of the regular packed cartridge 16a by a cartridge exchanging apparatus 22 to carry out continuous coating.
