PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for automatically detecting slag inclusion of a cast piece or abnormal base metal biting of a continuous casting machine. SOLUTION: The system comprises a camera installed between a mold and a cutter of the continuous casting machine, an image processing device for image processing, and a warning device to give a warning when it is determined that base metal biting has occurred. The image processing device is characteristically provided with a noise filtering means, a planimetric means to calculate an area of a white domain of image data after the noises have been filtered out, an area difference calculating means to calculate the difference of areas between the area of the white domain and the area of a white domain of normal casting, and a warning signal sending means to send to the warning device a warning signal informing that base metal biting has occurred in the case that the difference of the areas calculated by the area difference calculating means exceeds the predetermined value. |
