PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating a minute region with a liquid in good coating quality. SOLUTION: The method comprises a process for holding the liquid 5 on a coating member 3 formed by bundling a plurality of wire members 4, a process for forcing out the liquid 5 from the coating member 3 by applying tensile stress in the directions of both ends of the coating member 3 holding the liquid 5, and a process for bringing the liquid 5 forced out from the coating member 3 into contact with a substrate 1. Because the coating member 3 is formed by bundling the wire members 4, it presents a wiry shape. In the method for coating the substrate 1 with the liquid 5 by bringing the liquid 5 held by the wiry coating member 3 into contact with the substrate 1, a region having width equivalent to wire width and a very small area, i.e. a minute region is coated with the liquid.
