<p>A network invitation signal is broadcast to mobile devices which are within range and therefore potential members of a wireless network 25, 26. Upon a mobile device responding affirmatively to join the wireless network, identification information is obtained from the mobile device. This information may be entered by the user of the mobile device or ti may be provided automatically by the mobile device. The mobile device is them included within the wireless network. Devices may be members of more than one network and may be PDAs, pagers, cellular phones, desktop computers, notebook computers or the like. A member device may leave the network by moving out of range, logging out or by turning the device off.</p> |
