PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional photocatalytic deodorizing device wherein light leaks outside the device from a light source irradiating light including ultraviolet rays on a photocatalyst for exciting the photocatalyst during operation in a dark room, palely lightens a device periphery, and gives a feeling of discomfort to a user. SOLUTION: Leaking light from the light source 212 to the outside of the device 201 can be suppressed by a composition of detecting illuminance of the device 201 periphery by an illuminance sensor 274 connected to an operation control part 272 of the photocatalytic deodorizing device 201 and lowering lighting illuminance of the light source 212 by a light source control part 271.
