A thrust bearing 100 comprises an outer housing 101 with a substantially circular base 105, a cylindrical side wall and a frusto-conical central post 107, each upstanding from base 105 and whereby an outer ball 103 is seated on or partially within outer housing 101 and a truncated hemispherical inner ball 104 is mounted on post 107, thereby sandwiching outer ball 103 between itself 104 and outer housing 101. A self-lubricating or lubricated liner (spherical) insert, possibly made from PETP or PTFE and having a load bearing surface 109, is fixedly mounted to the inner surfaces of the side wall of outer housing and an inner surface of base 105. Five equally spaced bores 114 provided in inner ball 104 are aligned with corresponding threaded holes 115 provided in central post 107 and through which countersunk screws 116 are passed. |
