PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a reddish state of an image of a body to be observed, and to enable to observe a mucous membrane, blood vessel and other tissues with sufficient contrast. SOLUTION: A component of an illuminating light in the longer wavelength side of a mainly red band region is eliminated by disposing a red component cutoff optical filter 36 by which a spectral transmittance becomes a half value at a wavelength at 630 nm and zero at a wavelength of 670 nm between, for example, a light source 28 and an infrared cutoff filter 30. Since scattering of the light in the longer wavelength side of red color is restrained by this, the mucous membrane, blood vessel and other tissues of the body to be observed can be photographed with a sufficient contrast, and can be excellently observed on the image on a monitor 14.
