PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for volume reduction and recovery of recycled refuse capable of downsizing a bar code reading device detecting content, material property and color of the recycled refuse and shortening bar code reading time until the volume reduction process and withdrawing residue time. SOLUTION: This apparatus for volume reduction and recovery of recycled refuse is provided with a bar code reading device which is interlocked with a holding part of recycled refuse holding a charging spout of recycled refuse and a rotation driving device for the holding part of recycled refuse for rotating the holding part of recycled refused, and provided with a moving device in which a bar code reader reading the bar code indicated on the recycled refuse is interlocked with a rotation of the holding part of recycled refuse and the bar code reader is moved upward and downward or frontward and backward.
