The block comprises a flat or cone-shaped plate with cutting blades (2) mounted on it so that one end of the blade cutting edge (6) is closer to the block rotation axis than the other end. The cutting edge is bordered by a timber guide surface and a chip guide surface (13), the timber guide surface having an angle relative to its rotation plane which varies over its length, so that the largest angle is at the end of the cutting edge closest to the rotation axis and the angle then reduces in the outwards direction. The chip guide surface also has an angle relative to its rotation plane which varies over its length, so that the angle at the end of the cutting edge closest to the rotation axis increases in the outwards direction, ensuring that the cutting edge angle between the timber and chip guide surfaces remains essentially constant over the entire length of the cutting edge. |
