The invention relates to a method and device for identifying a marker using a detector substance. In order to identify a marker (300) that is disposed on a body and contains a marker substance (320) having a specific property, the marker (300) is first scanned by means of a radiation (L1) in a first reference measurement. The marker substance (320) is then contacted with a detector substance (310) that has a specific property that corresponds to th at of the marker substance (320). A bond between the marker and detector substance (320, 310) that results from the corresponding specific properties of both substances has a fluorescent behavior. The marker (300) is scanned b y means of the radiation (L1) a second time and identified by means of the results of the two measurements.
