PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonization apparatus having easily controllable temperature and giving a carbonized product having stable quality without deteriorating the working environment by using an externally heated multicylinder kiln having metallic heating pipe and heated with an induction heating coil. SOLUTION: An inlet-side drum 6 to accept a charged carbon material M is rotatably supported with a supporting roller 9 by the roller 5 on the outer circumference of the drum and rotated on a nearly horizontal axis with a driving motor 8. The inlet-side drum 6 is coaxially connected to a similarly rotatable outlet-side drum 12 through one or more metallic heating pipes 11 to transfer the carbon material M in the drum 6 to the drum 12 and discharge the carbonized activated carbon C. The heating pipes 11 are arranged around the axial center of the drums 6, 12 at uniform pitch. An induction heating coil 21 held in a cylindrical yoke 22 supported by a supporting frame 24 and having a coil cement layer 25 covering the inner surface of the coil is placed outside of the heating pipes. An AC current is supplied to the coil 21 and the current is controlled to control the temperature of the heating pipe 11 in high accuracy. |
