<p>The cell consists of a porous first electrode of Ni, Ag or Cu whose internal surfaces are coated with a halide layer (pref. iodide) and an alkali metal(pref. li). The alkali metal may be protected from the air by a coating of Ni, Ag, Ga or Sn. The porosity of the first electrode is 70% with 50-100 mu pore size and a halide coating of 10-20 mu formed by reaction with iodine vapour, or electrochemically.</p> |
