PURPOSE: A valve timing apparatus is provided to delay a valve timing when an engine is operated at a low speed and to rapidly achieve the valve timing when the engine is operated at a high speed by installing a variable valve timing in the valve timing apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A crank shaft pulley(1) is indirectly connected to a crank shaft(2) through a hydraulic circuit pulley(3) fixed to the crank shaft(2). The crank shaft pulley(1) is meshed with the hydraulic circuit pulley(3) such that the crank shaft pulley(1) and the hydraulic circuit pulley(3) are relatively moved with respect to each other. A fan shaped space(4) is formed at an inner portion of the crank shaft pulley(1). The fan shaped space(4) is divided into a hydraulic pressure space and an empty space by mans of a partition member. A compression spring is installed in the empty space so as to push the partition member towards the hydraulic pressure space.
