A projection field is generated using a solid-state function generator capable of generating range of waveforms and frequencies. A signal having a desired waveform and frequency is selected and fed through a solid-state non-inverting amplifier to generate a projection field. The projection field is used to bring about deposition of the particulate material on the substrate.
