PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video decoder in which run length compressed image data are expanded/reduced in smaller circuit scale. SOLUTION: When expanding the run length compressed image data, a run length decoding means 4 stores a run length data length required for decoding the run length image data of one scan line. Then, a control means 6 controls the read address of the run length image data by using that information so that the run length decoded image data of the same scan line can be outputted from an output synthesizing means 5 a plurality of times. When reducing the run length compressed image data, the control means 6 performs control so that the run length image data of a scan line not to be outputted for reduction can not be outputted from the output synthesizing means 5. |
