摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal device optimizing display quality both in a transmissive mode display and in a reflective mode display. SOLUTION: The transflective liquid crystal device 1 is provided with a liquid crystal panel 40 consisting of a color filter substrate 10 having a transflective layer 12 with a light transmitting part and a light reflecting part formed on a surface thereof, a counter substrate 20 placed opposite to the color filter substrate 10 and a liquid crystal layer held between the color filter substrate 10 and the counter substrate 20 and a backlight (an illuminating means) arranged on the side opposite to the viewer's side of the liquid crystal panel 40, and is characterized by being provided with a first liquid crystal layer 31 formed corresponding to the light transmitting part of the transflective layer 12 and a second liquid crystal layer 32 formed corresponding to the light reflecting part of the transflective layer 12 and having Δn value different from that of the first liquid crystal layer 31 and, at the same time, making the counter substrate 20 have partition walls 23 to partition the first liquid crystal layer 31 and the second liquid crystal layer 32.
