<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for cleaning a glass processed article by which a detergent shows excellent cleaning power for various contaminants, does not damage the surface smoothness of the glass processed article such as a fiber preform or does not change the composition or properties of the glass even when it remains on the surface, and to suppress decrease in the characteristics of a fiber preform caused by the cleaning process of the glass preform to constitute the parts of the fiber preform in the method for manufacturing a fiber preform. SOLUTION: Quaternary ammonium hydroxide is used as a detergent for the method for cleaning the glass processed article. The cleaning process of a glass preform in the method for manufacturing the fiber preform is carried out by the above method for cleaning the glass processed article using the quaternary ammonium hydroxide. As for the quaternary ammonium hydroxide, for example, tetramethylammonium hydroxide can be used.</p> |
