PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for an operation, such as group setting, when a group function is used for the conventional MD recording device, etc., and to prevent spending of much time for the operation when a plurality of numbers of groups are set. SOLUTION: Groove management information to store a track number N1 in starting recording of an information recording medium and a track number N2 in stopping the recording and to manage the tracks from the track number N1 up to the track number N2 as one group is recorded in a disk name recording region of a management data recording region. The disk name of sub-code data is recorded as a group name. Further, the group name is automatically recorded even if there is no data indicating the disk name data in the sub-code data.
